God Needs Your Imperfect Action – The Loaves and The Fishes

You are currently viewing God Needs Your Imperfect Action – The Loaves and The Fishes

The miracle of the loaves and fishes in Matthew 14:15-21 is a reminder that what little we have to give to God and for His causes never seems like enough at first, but that doesn’t matter.

Christ doesn’t care how much you have to give, He only cares that you do give.

That’s because He knows that He can and will multiply your offering to be enough and then some. When you add His perfection to your imperfection, it’s always enough. But that can’t happen until you give what you can.

Imperfect action will always lead to better results than trying to manufacture something instantly perfect, as long as your heart is in the right place. Prolific action in serving and following God is always better than striving for perfection in the little moments of life.

In the simplest terms, this means we should serve, pray, ponder, and study the scriptures a lot. If you think of something nice to do, or that you should read scriptures or say a prayer, ignore your inner perfectionist and do it!

There will be a sense of worry at the mistakes you’re making as you give. You’ll fear, just like Christ’s disciples, that what you have isn’t enough for what is needed. But you’ll grow faster if you act prolifically by doing a lot of imperfect repetitions than if you wait until you’re perfect. Excellence comes from repetition, not trying to manufacture it.

You won’t be perfect but Christ doesn’t care about that. He knows that He can take your small “loaves and fishes” and turn them into more than enough for His purposes in your life and in the lives of all around you.

“Wherefore, be not weary in well-doing, for ye are laying the foundation of a great work”
